Philadelphia is a great getaway no matter what your family size or the occasion. Rich with history, excitement, and plenty to do I have rounded up some fun things to explore during your visit. The really cool thing about Philly as it is affectionately called is locals and tourist enjoy the same things and it is easy to ask a local residence what you should do next. Whenever I plan a trip I love to look at the city’s upcoming festivals and plan our trip around a festival. Here is 2017 Philly’s festival schedule.
What To Explore:
The Franklin Institute is fun and very educational. With plenty to explore I love their exhibits especially the famous and well thought out Jurassic World. The Franklin Institute is located at 222 North 20th Street and the hours are 9:30 am to 7 pm daily.
Philadelphia Trolley Works is a must! They have a variety of tours to select from such as the Philly By Night tour, Hop On Hop Off tours, Amish tour , Franklin’s Footsteps Walking Tour and more. My favorite is the Philly By Night tour.
One Liberty Observation Deck is simply amazing. The views are breathtaking and beautiful. The 360-degree views offer an experience like no other. Shopping and date night is very nice here as well. Located at 1650 Market Street their hours vary according to the season
Philadelphia Zoo is home to over 13,000 animals spread out over forty-two acres. There is plenty of excitement, exhibit, trails, attractions and a nice adult beer garden. Located at 3400 West Girard Avenue the hours vary according to the season so please know before you go. ( insert CP link)
Philadelphia Museum of Art is very well thought out. They have collections from all over the world and there exhibit tours inform you are complete detail. The calendar of events is full of special programmings such as Wednesday nights, Friday nights and more which are special programs presented by the Philadelphia Museum of Art for adults. Located at 2600 Benjamin Franklin Parkway the hours vary by day and they closed on Monday.
Independence Hall is where it all began. This is the birthplace of America. Rich with history you must educate yourself by visiting. You will definitely be impressed as history unfolds before you. Located at 143 S. 3rd Street the hours vary according to the season so know before you go.
Reading Terminal Market is a rich with history dating back to 1680. There are definitely some stories here and they all lead to Reading Terminal Market surviving and thriving during so of the most challenging time. Today it houses several merchants all unique in their own specialty and events that are well worth your time. Located at 12th and Arch street the market hours are Monday through Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm and Sundays from 9 am to 5 pm.
Please Touch Museum is a children’s museum dedicated to exploring through touch. Based on education through interactive learning, the children have a ball with the various exhibits through their own personal experience.
